Neighbourhood Issues
A Wirral Green Party leaflet was delivered to all houses in New Brighton in January. The full leaflet is available for download: New Brighton Leaflet for January 2008.
The following concerns were raised by residents in New Brighton:
Street Cleaning
Local residents have expressed concern to us over the cleanliness of our streets. For instance in Lennox Ave. residents were annoyed by the lack of weeding in the street and back alley-way. Bekki sent a letter to the council to query this neglect and in the meantime helped by cleaning up the overgrown weeds. The council said it will look into the reasons why this has not been done and resume a more prompt service in the future.
Dog Fouling
The Green Party are organising a petition asking for the installation of dog litter bins in the problem area around Victoria Parade. Contact us to sign this petition.
Anti Social Behaviour
When asking the people of New Brighton about this issue it is easy to see that the extent of the problem is grouped into small pockets where there are a lot of problems, contrasting with other areas that have few problems. If you have any more comments or concerns on this issue please feel free to get in touch.
Redevelopment
Proposals to redevelop New Brighton have generated a huge amount of controversy and division in the local community. The Green Party believes that the only way to address these divisions is to ask residents what they would like to see and use this as a framework for the future regeneration of New Brighton.
Bekki submitted the following letters to the local press on this subject:
Approval of revised Neptune Scheme ignores climate change and ever rising energy costs ...[more]
Bekki Koncienczy, 11th Oct 2007
Resubmission of the Neptune scheme is depressingly 20th century ...[more]
Bekki Koncienczy, Oct 2nd 2007
The Neptune scheme was heavily criticized by Larry Neild (Liverpool Daily Post City Editor) - see here . You can respond online by clicking the link at the side of the article.
